When it comes to improving the performance of our WordPress site, we focus mostly on using fewer plugins, using a CDN, a cache plugin & faster web hosting. However, there is another important aspect of improving your WordPress blog performance: Cleaning your WordPress database. A new WordPress blog (2-3 months old) can take advantage of free database optimization plugins like the WP-Optimize or the WP-DBManager plugin. However, for a blog which has been online for more than three months & has installed and uninstalled numerous plugins, a simple database optimization is not enough. As a part of our day to day blogging activities, we try out many plugins. However, uninstalling plugins doesn’t remove all of the tables from our WordPress database, and over time our WordPress database gets filled with many unused tables. These unused tables are known as orphan tables. They greatly slow down the performance of our WordPress blog. Belgarde Keep Over the last two days there have been a couple of significant patches to Landmark. You can check out the patch notes here… here for more information. The most exciting of the changes is the fix to the way trees/plants/rocks kept respawning on our claims with no real way to remove them. Last night I spent quite a bit of work starting to flesh out the details. You can see in this image that we now have the wooden posts sticking out from each floor as though they were coming from the ceiling beams. Additionally I have started replacing my main columns with ones that include some inset stucco. … [Read more...] about Married at the House of Vacuums
Play Path of Exile for freeLook, we don’t mean to shock anyone, but Path of Exile needs to make money, and it does so via its cash shop. That’s the way its business model works. However, that business model does require you to have the most accessible cash shop possible to ensure that people can buy what you’re offering. So it’s probably a good thing that the game’s newest patch will add much-desired filter options to the cash shop, along with a cleaner and more central user interface. The patch also adds in 3D models for two remaining Bestiary armor sets, along with a variety of other bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. It’s not a huge set of content changes, but it should make the game a bit more pleasant… and it should make it a bit cleaner to spend money in the game, which allows the team to provide more content in the future. So that’s all right. Source: Official SiteSHARE THIS ARTICLE … [Read more...] about Path of Exile revamps its store interface for cleaner navigation
On this blog, we talk a lot about optimising banner ads. However, the underlying assumption about most such advice is that your website is not bogged down with any functional problems—to draw an analogy from the auto world—why would bother with a paint job if your car’s engine is malfunctioning? Design and content are at the heart of your website, if any one of those components don’t work, that’s a bottleneck you need to fix before doing anything else, including trying to optimise your ads. Here are 4 most common UI/UX problems that you must fix before you even think about banner ads. It doesn’t matter how great the content that you’re publishing is; if the overall way your website looks like it belongs in the 90s—nobody’s going to be impressed. The front end of your website is the online equivalent of a first impression, and you know what they say about first impressions. If your website itself can’t command the … [Read more...] about 4 UI/UX Problems You Need to Fix Before Optimising Your Banner Ads
