I thought last week was all the news to hit the web for the foreseeable future, but boy was I wrong. We got another handful of games worth talking about this week – Aion, WildStar, Black Desert Online, Dauntless, Fallout 76, Gloria Victis, Rift, and finally.. Rend.. Alright, so let’s kick this off with a little positive news first, yeah? Last week we announced that WildStar would be shutting down. We didn’t have an exact time that would take place, however, Carbine Studios have officially given us confirmation on when that date would be. Black Desert Online is launching the latest of its free major content expansions titled Drieghan: The Heritage of Sherekhan on November 14th. It’s been a little while since I’ve talked about Dauntless. But, as of this week, October 3rd to be exact, slayers will have a new weapon added to their arsenals. Who here is hyped for Fallout 76? Being a huge fan of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4.. I … [Read more...] about MMORPG News: Aion NA 6.0 Update, BDO Expansion, Fallout 76 Beta, WildStar Last Days

Non-Spoiler First Thoughts War Never Changes…. and neither does Fallout, and that is a statement I mean in the best possible way. When a sequel to a beloved franchise is released, you never quite know if you are going to get absolute greatness like Skyrim… or if you are going to be stuck with a Master of Orion 3. For those who loved MOO3 I apologize… but that game was horrible and broke from far too many of the tenets of the original franchise. Fallout 4 however… keeps all of the best features from Fallout 3 and New Vegas… and applies a next generation coat of paint and features to it. If you have been an aficionado of Bethesda games for very long you will notice that several of the really nice features of Skyrim have been implemented into this engine. Everything from the loading screen item previews… to the ability to favorite weapons and swap between them quickly in combat… are direct lineage to … [Read more...] about Fallout First Impressions
Fallout: New Vegas was released in 2010 as the fourth game in the Fallout series and has been wildly popular ever since. Sure, there were a few bugs and glitches, but gamers and game reviewers have praised this title from the outset, helping it sell more than 12 million copies around the world. Now, almost seven years after it’s release, Fallout: New Vegas remains infinitely playable, and most of those bugs and glitches can be fixed thanks to a massive number of aftermarket modifications one can make to the game. There’s far too many for a complete list right here, but with that in mind, we present ten of the best Fallout: New Vegas mods, in no particular order. Nevada Skies The Mojave desert is a pretty bleak place in the year 2281, and the weather doesn’t change much. Those looking for a little more variety, meteorologically speaking, will certainly find it with the Nevada Skies weather mod. The mod adds things like clouds, rain, snow, rainstorms and even … [Read more...] about [NM] 10 Must Have Mods For Fallout New Vegas
In my last post about Fallout: New Vegas, I think I made a comment that implied I felt the quest lines were shallow and weren’t as compelling as I’d liked. Well, I take that back. I think it’s safe to say everything I experienced in the first 10 hours or so was just a small taste of what the game has to offer. Just a tiny little morsel to whet your appetite, so to speak, because the real fun happens when you hit The Strip. Here’s what I think really makes the game: Factions, factions, factions. There are a ton of them in New Vegas, each having their own rich culture and stories. Some are big, some are small. A couple of them are so scummy it makes your skin crawl. Others are really bizarre like that gang of Elvis impersonators. Many of them have cool names like the Followers of the Apocalypse and the White Glove Society. Would that I could please them all. I love the Black Widow perk. Once Mogsy the Courier reached the bright lights of New Vegas proper, however, … [Read more...] about New Friends In New Vegas
The British Board of Blog Classification (Game Plot Revelation Committee) has classified this post as Spoiler Free for the single player story of ‘Mass Effect 3’. Please refrain from any revelations in the comments, especially about that bit where that thing happens. I mean I was all totally like “NO WAY!”, and the game was all totally like “WAY!”, and then when the thing turned out not to be that thing but the other thing? Definitely don’t tell anyone about that. Though I was a bit disappointed when it all turned out to be a dream. Like much of the rest of the galaxy I’ve been desperately fighting off the Reapers in Mass Effect 3, but I haven’t got terribly far in the story yet, so there really won’t be any spoilers. If you’d manage to insulate yourself from ME3 information so completely that “fighting off the Reapers” is a surprise, I apologise for ruining the first 17 seconds of the introduction. One … [Read more...] about I like to play blackjack. I’m not addicted to gambling, I’m addicted to sitting in a semi-circle.
