Rift is shutting down its subscription only fresh start progression server called Prime. Prime will be closing at the stroke of midnight (PT) on March 31st 2019, character/credit transfers will take place the following week. The process will be completed by April 7th. The server was launched in early 2018 to great success, but player numbers had dipped since. The recent takeover by Gamigo Group also further added confusion and chaos to Rift’s playerbase. All Prime players will need to know the following. Transfering Characters From Prime To Live All transferred characters will be available on Reclaimer (Trial Only Server) in the US environment, and players will be able to transfer those characters to any other US live shard. We currently do not support character transfers between the US and EU environments. All accounts who have at least one character who reached level 50 on Prime will be able to claim the following on live once character/credit transfers have been completed (Can … [Read more...] about Rift Prime Is Shutting Down: Here’s What You Need To Know

We don’t yet know everything we’re going to learn at the Tokyo fan festival about Shadowbringers, but we can be reasonably confident that it will involve a minimum of stuff about the upcoming system changes to Final Fantasy XIV. The stated plan is to unveil all of those in May, and while we can’t be entirely sure that sounds about right. We’ll learn a bit about Gunbreaker and the as-yet-undisclosed additional job (or jobs), but we won’t know all of the way role actions and job actions are changing. That having been said, what we’ve been promised is an evolution from Stormblood rather than a revolution. But having said all of that, I can already think of some system changes that I’d like to see, even if many of them seem rather unlikely with the game’s current design philosophy. So this isn’t meant as a list of demands so much as a wish list. If we get a couple of the things on this list, I’ll consider it a big win. More … [Read more...] about Wisdom of Nym: The system changes I’d like to see in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers
Love it or hate it, MMOs are going mobile in ever-increasing numbers. Last year saw a crop of acclaimed titles making their way to tablets and smartphones, including Old School RuneScape and Villagers and Heroes. While we’ve seen MMOs come to mobile in the past, it seems notable that 2018 was a year in which more and more people were recognizing that these games don’t have to sacrifice quality just to make a quick free-to-play buck. Well strap in for 2019 because we’re about to get flooded with many new games in the mobile space as well as developments on current titles. We’ll be greatly exceeding our typical 10 entries for today’s list in the hopes of covering most of the significant up-and-comers in mobile MMOs. Let’s get to it! AdventureQuest 3D: MJ’s favorite mobile MMO continues to cram in more classes, areas, and features as it aims for a full release. Mad World: This stylish grimdark 2-D cross-platform should be coming to mobile, but it … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: Mobile MMOs to watch in 2018
I was just wondering: If I am a Beastman, and I want to live in Syndesia, is it even possible? To Live and create a town and perform all the usual things I could do if I was on Arboreus, plus being able to raid villages and engage in Pvp? This would probably determine whether i would want to be Beastman or Human. … [Read more...] about Will Beastmen Be Able To Engage In PVP On Syndesia?
MOP reader Oleg suggested today’s Daily Grind in the bowels of the mystified comments under our piece on Entropia Universe on Wednesday. In a nutshell, the Swedish studio MindArk is angling to use the game as a “potential reality where human consciousness can be inserted into virtual characters, making it possible to continue to live on as an Avatar well after their human body has passed” – in other words, to make us immortal, to let us live on in MMO Entropia. The objection, as Oleg and other commenters noted, is that you might not actually want to live forever in Entropia. It’s a neo-capitalist technotopia where you cash in and out of the game to reality and back again. The game practically pioneered pay-to-win. So let’s say MindArk actually pulls off the kind of sci-fi AI it’s saying it’s working on. Would you actually want to do it, and more importantly, which MMORPG would you want to live in – forever? Every morning, the … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: Which MMORPG would you want to ‘live’ in if you had to live there forever?
