You might recall that Blade & Soul showed off its new talent system for a handful of classes last week. It was toward the end of the week, so we understand if you were a bit distracted. If you were aware of it and just waiting for your own personal class to get one, though? You are most likely in luck, because today the game is showing off talent previews for Assassins, Blade Dancers, Warlocks, and Kung Fu Masters. That’s not quite everyone, but it does give you a chance to see the talent options to focus your kung fu into fire or lightning for Kung Fu Masters, become an expert in curses or time and space for Warlocks, or become a poisoned blade or a ninja master as an Assassin. While it’s not a full picture of the systems just yet, the official preview should give you a clearer picture of what the options will look like to add that extra bit of class personalization. … [Read more...] about Blade & Soul offers more extensive previews of additional class talent systems

Lord of the Rings Online players collaborated recently on a list of suggestions for fixes and features in the MMO, and Standing Stone Games responded to them in a fashion. The topics addressed included favoured chest pulls, high-level instance rewards, the legendary item rework, raids, new hobbies, and stat issues. Don’t get too excited over the list, however, as most of the responses are neutral to the extreme. In fact, the players found the responses (many of which were a mere “Thanks for the feedback”) to these topics “cold and uncaring,” which put CM Cordovan on the defensive. “The unfortunate reality of lists of questions that contain a moderate number of things that could be rewritten as suggestion statements is that they are difficult to answer in a way that satisfies the questioner,” he posted in response to the discontent over the answers. Meanwhile, a different community in a college class studying Tolkien through LOTRO delivered … [Read more...] about Lord of the Rings Online addresses player suggestions, basks in the glow of college class presentations
I swear to you, the other night I had a dream in which I was sorting out which MMOs I was going to return to in the near future. There was Elder Scrolls Online, which I know has a lot of storytelling potential and housing to boot. And my mind led me over to SWTOR, which has provided me with plenty of great times in the past. Then I woke up and thought, yup, that’s how it shall be. Not all of my gaming decisions are made by dreamland oracle. Sometimes I just know that it’s time to come back to an MMO because there’s some great content coming out for it or I have this inexplicable yearning to be in that land once again. Having friends who are all enthusiastic about it and trying to drag me back doesn’t hurt, either. I blame Larry for getting me all riled up about Neverwinter as of late. When do you know it’s time to return to an MMO? Are you feeling that lately? Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players … [Read more...] about The Daily Grind: When do you know it’s time to return to an MMO?
Play SWTOR for freeJust like a certain farmboy looking wistfully up at twin suns and thinking of his future, Star Wars: The Old Republic fans are looking ahead to next month’s Update 5.9 and the changes that it will bring. Among those will be the continuing effort to balance and adjust the game’s many class builds. So what, exactly, is on the docket for class changes with 5.9? Tanks need to brace themselves for a nerf “across the board,” as BioWare says that they are doing too much damage. On the upside, tanks will get more threat generation to help in their role. Many non-tank builds are due for some utility changes to improve their survivability in combat encounters. The team also called out Marauders and Sentinels for special changes, as they are “overperforming” according to the devs. While they’ll be getting a nerf to two of their combat skills, two other skills are being tweaked to reduce damage in a crowd control situation. After Panda and Penguin updates from the last couple of years and the rumors of a new algorithm planned by Google, there’s one thing that you’ve probably heard people in the industry say thousands of times already – and you’re probably going to hear it again – so I’ll just say it as well: SEO is changing! But it’s changing for good. Why is this? Well, the process of getting backlinks now is not a matter of doing it in a mechanical way anymore or just trying to scale everything with software or outsourcing. Now you have to be directly a part of it by being involved creatively in the research, production and outreach process. During the time that I’ve been involved in all this “New SEO”, I’ve learned many things. There are methods such as guest blogging that works really well but is way more complex than just emailing people and asking them whether they allow guest bloggers to write articles on their website. I’ll … [Read more...] about Some Practical Tips When Doing Email Outreach for Backlinks
