the Elder Scrolls Online PTS and folks are probably putting it through its paces, exploring every nook and cranny of the Khajiit’s ancestral homeland. In the meantime, ZeniMax gives fans an in-depth look at the new zone and the cat people that inhabit it in a recent dev blog. Elsweyr itself is a massive zone made up of craggy desert canyons, windswept Savannas, and dense jungles. “In general, when planning a new zone, we always try to take multiple different real-world inspirations and mash them together,” says Senior Concept Artist Joseph Watmough. “For Elsweyr’s grasslands for example, we looked at West Africa, and for the southern more tropical parts, we looked at southern India, Indonesia, and Thailand. This gives the player an experience that’s rooted in reality, but also something a little different.” As for the Khajiiti, the team says that they were careful to avoid negative stereotypes that came with the cat people’s reputation … [Read more...] about Elder Scrolls Online Spotlights Elsweyr And The Khajiit In Their Latest Dev Blog

Welcome to MMO Cartographer! I’m Mia, and I’ll be your guide through this winding journey through interesting MMORPGs – some small, some forgotten, and some just worth another look. Today, I’m focusing on Elder Game’s Project Gorgon. I bought Project Gorgon quite some time ago but hadn’t actually played it very much until the last couple of weeks. It recently had an update, and as an explorer of MMO worlds less traveled, I thought it seemed an auspicious time to hop in and look around. I decided to create a new character because it had been such a long time since I played, and I wanted to take you with me on this journey with fresh eyes. There are a few things to say right here at the start, in the somewhat unlikely event that this is the very first article you’ve ever read about the game. First, it is an indie game in early access on Steam. While this is no-go territory for many people, it is a playable game and not the hot mess that many … [Read more...] about MMO Cartographer: Touching all the things in Project Gorgon
The focus of this piece is going to be Conquest. Arena will be its own Article. A suggestion was broached recently, and it’s one I’m particularly interested in, so let’s make this a regular column for SMITE until I run out of ideas. The suggestion was to discuss each role in SMITE, and how the gods for that role vary based on their skillsets. So I figured I would go with the role I potentially know the most about – Support/Guardian role. The role of the Guardian is to assist not just the Hunter, but the whole team in getting kills via CC, body blocking, and generally, just being a nuisance. Some Guardians pull, some stun, some pluck. Some have heals, some do not. Today’s piece goes over a few of the best-of-the-best, a spicy pick, and something off-meta that you’re likely to see. So the ultimate goal for the Guardian is to ensure people are getting kills. But I cannot stress this enough – don’t stop attacking or popping … [Read more...] about SMITE – Who Are The Most Reliable Support Gods?
It’s been a good third quarter for publisher Take-Two, which posted $1.57 billion in net bookings, $1.248 billion in revenue, and $350 million in gross profit. The success is thanks in no small part to stellar sales of its rootin’-tootin’ outlaw-shootin’ sandbox Red Dead Redemption 2, which has sold a staggering 23 million copies since its October release, vastly exceeding the company’s expectations. On top of shipping more copies in its first 15 days than the original Red Dead did in eight years, the title also had “the highest opening weekend of any title in entertainment history of any sort,” according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. The game’s multiplayer component, Red Dead Online, has also been performing remarkably well, “trending ahead of how GTA Online was performing by the same point in its lifecycle.” The success of RDO also probably has something to do with the company’s “significant growth in … [Read more...] about Red Dead Redemption 2 leads the charge in Take-Two’s unexpectedly successful third quarter
Combat: The combat system has seen some upgrades. we’ve added an auto facing option toward the enemy and changed how the camera direction changes with engagements in combat. The code for the Ability Bar has seen an overhaul which should resolve many issues relating to the activation of abilities. The Line of Sight (LOS) code has been altered to correct the issue where NPC’s or players block LOS. Our Programmers also corrected the issue which left players in the combat stance after combat was over. Read the full letter on The Repopulation site.
