Blizzard Entertainment will be taking down the World of Warcraft remote auction house app. Community Manager Ythisens explains in a forum post why the app had to be shut down and why players shouldn’t expect it to return any time soon. “The Web/Mobile Auction had a lot more issues with keeping it up than it was really worth for the small amount of players that actually used it. Trying to tackle and fix those issues (for transparency the majority were just exploits) just takes dev time away from working on new content. While it may change in the future, we currently at this time aren't planning to bring this back.” As for the in-game auction house itself the Community Manager says that there are currently no plans to upgrade it. “I agree that the in game Auction House definitely needs some updates and Ion touched on this awhile back in a Q&A,” says Ythisens. “I currently don't know of any plans to update the Auction House, but as soon we hear … [Read more...] about World Of Warcraft Auction House App Will Be Shutting Down And Won’t Be Coming Back Any Time Soon

World of Warcraft Auction House Changes & Reputation Exploit Closed
The World of Warcraft site has been updated with a pair of newsy news items. In the first, devs detail a number of changes coming to the item listing process on the WoW Auction House. In the second, an exploit that allowed players to "farm" quests repeatedly to gain Exalted reputations has been identified and hotfixed. Players who took advantage of the exploit will be punished, though no word has come down yet on what that punishment will be. Since the launch of Battle for Azeroth, players have complained about how laggy the interface has been as it culls through available items for sale. Much of this has been caused by thousands of listings of single items, particularly trade goods. "One thing we've identified as particularly troublesome is a large volume of trade skill materials being auctioned off in stacks of 1." the post reads. At issue is the fact that the listing price is currently very low per item listed. That will, however, be changing. The price to list items … [Read more...] about World of Warcraft Auction House Changes & Reputation Exploit Closed
Perfect Ten: MMOs that desperately need proper player housing
Here’s something pretty encouraging to me: When I sat down to work on an article listing MMOs that really could use but lacked proper player housing, I honestly had a hard time coming up with a full 10 titles. The more I looked at the popular titles in our gamespace, the more I realized that most of them — not all, but most — have adopted some sort of personal housing system. For someone who loves and champions player housing as a vital feature for MMORPGs, I think this is really neat. What is less neat is the fact that I keep playing the few games that don’t have housing. This leaves me grumpy. So here’s hoping that our list today — 8 current MMOs, one pseudo-MMO, and one deceased MMO — will get its act together and offer individual players their own personal abode. Someday. 1. Guild Wars 2 “But Guild Wars 2 already has housing!” I can hear some of you saying. But it doesn’t, not really. It has this weird home instance thing … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: MMOs that desperately need proper player housing
World of Warcraft players are noticing major issues with item scaling and gold inflation
The Heart of Azeroth in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is meant to be a powerful relic containing the very essence of the world. But you’re better off tossing it in the bank and never using it, apparently. Due to the way item scaling works in the game, players have noticed that unequipping the Heart of Azeroth and a few other items like trinkets, then stashing them in the bank, lowers your item level significantly without actually lowering your DPS substantially. Which means that enemies scale down and become weaker while you hit just as hard. You would think that “the best use for this artifact is to never use it” would be enough major issues for one expansion, but it seems like the implications of open-world scaling alone weren’t the only things not thought through. The expansion launch has seen WoW Token prices plummet, meaning lots of people are buying gold right now… and that gold is going to lead to an unpleasant inflation circle which was … [Read more...] about World of Warcraft players are noticing major issues with item scaling and gold inflation
What’s New in World of Warcraft 8.1.5?
Next week is a big deal for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth with the forthcoming release of patch 8.1.5. Generally, “half patches”, those smaller updates that arrive between major content patches, aren’t a big deal, but 8.1.5 is a bit different. It brings a number of new features to the game and finally sees the release of the Kul Tiran Humans and Zandalari Troll Allied Races, something players have been looking forward to since the expansion’s announcement.Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting big and small additions coming to WoW when 8.1.5 launches on March 12th. advertisement Zandalari Trolls & Kul Tiran Human Allied RacesThe centerpiece of the patch is, of course, the arrival of both the Kul Tirans for Alliance and the Zandalari for the Horde. This was a much-touted component of the Battle for Azeroth expansion and one that many hoped would be present when BfA launched. However, given the nature of the way Allied … [Read more...] about What’s New in World of Warcraft 8.1.5?
