Well, this was a bit unexpected. It seems that a little more was added to Fortnite with the Season 8 update than we first realized. In keeping with their music in game obsessions, Epic Games apparently decided to team up with the band Weezer and create a theme park island based around the band’s latest album. It’s probably not the oddest choice a game company could make, but some players are questioning why a game that caters to younger players would add an entire island dedicated to a band that mostly appeals to individuals over 30. Maybe the answer is the developer would like the game to appeal to a broader audience… especially since their player base isn’t spending as much money right now as it did previously. The benefit to Weezer is pretty obvious. Anyone who goes to the island will be able to hear the band’s new album while tooling around on hoverboards and doing other platform-y, theme park type activities. This isn’t the first time Fortnite … [Read more...] about There’s A Weezer-Themed Theme Park Island In Fortnite Now

Considering that Wild West Online is a wild dud these days, players looking for multiplayer western action are turning their eyes to Red Dead Redemption 2. The game is coming out for consoles on October 26th, but Rockstar Games continues to be cagey as to whether or not the open-world title will make an appearance (as is rumored) on PC. One thing we do know a bit more about the game this week is how it will look and play, thanks to a six-minute gameplay video that highlights the various activities and features that this highly anticipated sequel will contain. Since its launch on August 27th, World of Warcraft Classic has been smashing records everywhere including on Twitch. The viewership, player population and popularity of the game as a whole as risen again, thanks to Classic. But what about Classic has got everyone so pumped and hyped to play a 15 year old MMORPG again? Nostalgia Is A Drug The obvious answer is nostalgia. You can’t beat it, you can’t fight. In MMORPGs, we all have memories that are cherished – our first MMO, our first guild, the first time we experienced something, in some zone, or some raid. This is why older MMORPGs that create fresh start servers, or classic versions like World of Warcraft has done here will always be popular. On Classic right now, it’s hard not to pass by folks in chat without hearing about how the good old times have returned. Now it’s just a matter of seeing how far … [Read more...] about Why Is World of Warcraft Classic So Popular Right Now?
When it comes to popular games, it seems as though writers don’t feel that they have to extol their virtues. They’re already popular, after all. Instead, it becomes the trend to slant to the sharply critical, perhaps to serve as a counter-balance to that popularity. And so it is with World of Warcraft. Fourteen years after its launch, this fantasy MMORPG is still relatively popular and has incited countless cycles of attraction and rejection among its playerbase. People love to grouse about it because of its prominent status, but what I see a lot less often is an open admission as to what makes the game so attractive and fun as to pull millions of players into it on a regular basis. That Blizzard polish™ I don’t … [Read more...] about Perfect Ten: Why World of Warcraft is still worth playing in 2018
